Description

Bleathwood Manor is a farmhouse with an early 17th century core, featuring late 17th century additions and refacing, a further addition from the 18th century, and alterations from the 20th century. The timber-framed core is largely refaced with brick and has a sandstone rubble plinth, decorative brick shafts to the stacks, and tiled roofs. The building has an irregular T-shaped plan, with an earlier L-plan house facing west and later additions at both the north and south ends. It has gable-end stacks, and the entrance is located on the west front.

The manor is two storeys high with attics and cellars, and includes a single-storey addition to the north and a single storey with an attic to the south. The west front features raised verges and a dentilled eaves cornice. To the left of the main house is a single-storey extension with a large 8-pane full-length window to the right of a ledged door. To the right is a single storey and attic addition with one 2-light casement window and two 3-light casement windows with segmental heads.

The main house has a semi-circular shaped gable to the left with a single light and a semi-circular headed relieving arch, along with a 2-light window on the ground floor with a similar arch. The gabled section to the right has a 2-light window in the gable and a 2-light window to the right of a projecting two-storey porch, which features windows on all three sides of the upper storey with a moulded cornice. The ground floor of the porch has a part-glazed door flanked by sidelights and 2-light windows on the sides, with a gabled dormer to the right that includes a 3-light casement window, a small 2-light window below the eaves, and a long 2-light window with a semi-circular headed relieving arch on the ground floor, alongside a 2-light window to the right.

At the rear, there is a moulded string course and a similar relieving arch above the windows. The interior retains sections of late 17th century panelling, a 17th century staircase with splat balusters, and fragments of moulded plastered panels in some of the upper rooms.
