Description
Lower Upcott is a farmhouse, now a house, likely built in the 17th to early 18th century with later alterations. The structure features a brick and sandstone rubble plinth, timber-frame construction with plaster infill, and a pantile roof topped with a sandstone rubble stack. The building is arranged in an L-plan with arms extending to the north-west and south-west, and it has two storeys and attics.
On the south-east elevation, there are five windows, all rectangular late 20th-century casements, with two two-light windows on the left and three two-light windows on the right. The ground floor has similar windows. To the left, there is a porch with a stone slate roof that contains a glazed late 20th-century door. The timber frame consists of four panels from the cill to the wall-plate.
The rear elevation of the south-west range features a projecting upper storey supported by a bressummer. The south-west elevation of the north-west range displays brickwork with segmental-headed openings. Inside, the building has close studding in the cross walls and a jowled post with a lamb's tongue chamfer-stop. The ceiling beams also have similar stops.
