Description

This building is a barn with an attached wall, located about 25 yards west of the White House. It dates from around 1820, as indicated by the inscription beneath an owl hole. The barn is constructed from roughly coursed sandstone rubble and has an asbestos tile roof. It features eleven bays that are aligned in a north-east to south-west direction.

On the north elevation, there are three rows of vent slits and two two-leaved ledged doors that provide access to the threshing floors. The left door is situated two bays from the east end, while the right door is three bays from the west end, and both doors have cambered heads. The south elevation includes two porches, each with a catslide roof, leading to the threshing floors, and each porch has two-leaved ledged doors.

In the right corner of the barn, there is a high rubble wall that curves down towards the White House. Inside, the barn features flagged floors and raking struts that connect the ties to the principals. The White House itself is not included in this listing.
