Description

The barn, stable, and cider house at Callow Farm date from the late 17th century and mid- to late 18th century. They are constructed from sandstone rubble and feature roofs made of corrugated iron and slate. The stable is the oldest part of the complex, consisting of a single storey with a steep roof. It has two 2-light rebated and chamfered mullioned windows, with two doorways between them that have segmental heads cut into the lintels and quoined jambs.

To the right, projecting forward under a slate roof, is a two-storey cider house with three bays. This structure has timber mullioned windows, with segmental arched heads on the ground floor and additional windows built under the eaves above. The doorway in the middle bay also features a segmental arched head.

On the left side of the range is the barn, which includes two rows of ventilation slits, a wide entrance with a timber lintel positioned under the eaves, and a small opening to the left. High above the doorway is an illegible plaque from the late 18th century. At the left end of the barn, there is a lower extension with a slate roof, featuring a ground floor doorway with a segmental head and a first-floor pitching hole.

Inside, the barn has trusses with tie-beams and light collars, while the cider house is said to contain the base of a cider mill.
