Description

Old Hill Court is a house dating to around 1600. It is timber-framed and has a slate roof, constructed on a T-plan with a cross-wing to the right. The exterior is framed with square panels and displays a row of close-studding above the sill level. A two-storey, 19th-century rendered gabled porch fills the angle between the main range and the cross-wing, featuring a window on the first floor and a pointed doorway. To the left of the porch, the main range has two bays, with a 20th-century steel casement window on the ground floor and a window with three lights and a transom with leaded glazing on the right. The cross-wing has one bay, with a four-light window on the ground floor and a three-light window with a transom and leaded glazing on the first floor. Both upper and ground floor windows in the cross-wing have transoms and leaded glazing, while the attic window has timber mullions. A chimney is located to the left of the porch, and two additional chimneys with projecting stacks are found on the right-hand return wall of the cross-wing. Inside, the fireplace in the room to the left of the porch features moulded jambs and a damaged lintel. Traces of painted decoration were found on the studwork of the rear wall of the main range.
