Description
Packhorse Bridge at Redhill Lock is a pound-lock and packhorse bridge built in the late 18th century to early 19th century for the Loughborough Navigation. It features ashlar, iron, wood, red brick, some blue brick, and concrete materials. The lock, dating from the late 18th century, has an ashlar chamber with some blue brick and concrete patching, and it is equipped with two wood and iron gates. Above the lock is the late 18th-century red brick bridge, which has a semi-circular arch with a painted key block. The walls of the bridge are swept round and end in single brick piers, and there is a band that extends over the arch. Additionally, there is a 19th-century brick parapet with ashlar coping.
