Description

The Thompson Tomb, located in the Church of All Saints' churchyard, is a table top tomb dating from around 1801, created by R. Chamberlain of Newark, as noted on an engraved inset plaque. The tomb is constructed of ashlar and features a podium with a central tomb that is surrounded by eight free-standing fluted shafts, each with embellished capitals. These shafts taper towards their bases and support a decorated entablature, which is topped with an urn adorned with acanthus decoration. The tomb is situated 15 feet south of the baptistry.
