Description

Eastthorpe Lodge and Easthorpe Court are a house, now divided into two separate residences, dating to the late 18th century and early 19th century, with a billiard room added in 1922. The building is constructed of brick, partially rendered and colourwashed, with stone dressings and hipped slate roofs. The main block features a plinth, deep eaves, and two rendered stacks. Windows are mostly glazing bar sashes, with keystones above those on the front and rear elevations. The west front, which is two storeys high, has three sashes. A central Tuscan porch shelters a panelled door topped with a fanlight, flanked by tall, single sashes. The garden front, facing south, incorporates a two-storey semicircular bay window with three sashes on each floor to the right, and a 20th-century conservatory to the left. An eastern range exhibits cogged and rebated eaves and two side wall stacks, with scattered window openings. A hipped wing rises off-centre, incorporating a round-headed stair light and a casement window with glazing bars. To its right is a 20th-century canted bay window and a round-headed doorway, housing a panelled door and overlight. The north side features a balustraded, single-storey billiard room to the right, beyond which is a 19th-century canted bay window that has been altered to create a porch. The interior features a dogleg staircase with a cut string and stick balusters. The stairwell is distinguished by a dentilled cornice. The hallway has a moulded cornice and a foliate ceiling boss. A study to the right of the front elevation has moulded wood wall panels, a reeded plaster cornice, and ceiling. It contains a Classical fireplace with a 19th-century grate. The drawing room, located to the rear right, is notable for its anaglypta Adam style frieze and ceiling, along with a Classical wooden fireplace.
