Description

The triple and single chest tombs, located 2 meters south of the chancel at the Church of St. Swithin, date from 1803 and 1819 respectively. The triple chest tomb is made of ashlar and features moulded corners with a central blank panel on both the north and south sides, while the east end has three smaller blank panels. It commemorates Francis Vessey. The single chest tomb also constructed of ashlar has reeded corners and a hipped top, with an inscribed panel on each long side, dedicated to John Vessey. Both tombs are surrounded by a chamfered ashlar kerb.
