Description
37 and 37A Stodman Street is a house that has been converted into offices. It was built in the early 18th century and underwent alterations in the late 20th century. The building is made of colourwashed brick with stone dressings. Its roof and stacks are not visible. The structure features a rendered plinth, bands at the first and second floors with blocks above the windows, and a coped parapet with four blank panels. It has three storeys and a four-window range of plain sashes, with four glazing bar sashes above, although the central ones are blank. All windows have panelled lintels with keystones. The ground floor has a full-width shopfront in a late 19th-century style, complete with panelled pilasters, hooded brackets, and a cornice. The central pia is flanked on the left by a three-light window and on the right by a recessed glazed door and a single-pane window, both of which have overlights. Inside, there is an early 18th-century open well stair featuring vase and stem balusters and a moulded scrolled handrail. The roof structure includes a butt purlin principal rafter roof with collars.
