Lodge. c1899. For W N Hicking. Roughcast with ashlar dressings and slate roof. Late C17 Renaissance Revival stle. Plinth, modillioned gables. central cruciform stack. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Cross plan. Main gable, facing Drive, has an oval glazing bar window with 4 keystones. Below, a 3-bay Tuscan portico covering a panelled door flanked by single casements. Set back wings have each a single casement. West gable has a Venetian window with keystone, and below, a cross casement. Return angle and wing to left have similar casements. North gable has an oval window with keystones and below, a central close boarded door. This building is a late example of the type, and coincides with Hicking's elevation of Brackenhurst into Brackenhurst Hall.
