Description

Old Moorhaigh Farmhouse and the adjoining stable are a disused farmhouse and stable dating from the late 17th century and late 18th century. The buildings are constructed of coursed rubble with stone dressings and feature a pantile roof with a coped gable, kneelers, and a single brick gable stack. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a two-window range of two-light casements with stone flush mullions, both of which are boarded. There is an off-centre boarded door with a heavy stone surround, flanked on the left by a two-light flush mullioned boarded window and on the right by a single-light blocked window. The right gable is partly rendered and blank.

At the rear, there is a two-light flush mullioned window on the left, which is unglazed, and a similar smaller window set higher on the right. Attached to the rear is a short drystone wall and a single-cell stable, also made of coursed rubble with a pantile roof. The gable of the stable features a moulded ashlar window surround that has been altered to form a door. On the side nearest the farmhouse, there is a boarded door flanked on the right by a small window, both with stone surrounds. The interior is reputed to contain a fireplace with a stone lintel and stop-chamfered beams.
