Description
Mill Bank Cottage is a former mill house, dating to approximately 1820, which has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone and ashlar, with a rendered rear elevation, ashlar dressings, and pantile roofs. It has two coped gable stacks, one of stone and one of brick. The front of the cottage features projecting stone surrounds to the windows. It is two storeys high with a three-window front, featuring 12-pane sashes. A central round-arched doorway has a keystone, impost, glazed door, and a blank fanlight, flanked by further 12-pane sash windows. To the left of the main cottage is a two-storey outbuilding with a single-storey lean-to addition. The property is accompanied by an adjoining boundary wall, constructed of coursed squared rubble with half-round coping. This wall extends approximately 50 metres and includes two blocked gates with round-topped ashlar gate piers.
