Description

This is a row of four houses, now used as houses, a surgery, and a hotel, built around 1820. It has undergone alterations in the mid-19th century and the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone with an ashlar front and stone dressings. It has slate roofs with a single stone ridge stack and three ridge and one gable brick stacks. The building has a plinth.

It is three storeys high, with a 12-window facade. The windows on the second floor are smaller than those below. The left side has four plain sash windows. To their right are six late 20th-century casement windows, followed by two 12-pane sash windows. Above, there's a nine-pane sash window flanked by a 20th-century casement on the left and four similar casements on the right. On the right side, there are six nine-pane sash windows, one of which has been partly reglazed.

The ground floor on the left has a stone doorcase flanked by a plain sash window to the left and two similar sashes to the right. To the right, there’s another doorcase with a 20th-century casement and a plain sash window. Further right is another doorcase, followed by two plain sashes and two 12-pane sashes. All these doorcases are stone, panelled, round-headed, with imposts and keystones, 6-panel doors, and fanlights.

The right gable has a single-story flat-roofed porch with a matching doorcase, door, and fanlight, covered by an ornate openwork cast-iron canopy with round-arched openings and anthemion motifs. The right side of the building features two round-headed windows.

There is a low boundary wall made of ashlar with gabled coping and a rounded corner to the left. The right end of the wall has been truncated and squared off. This property is listed for its group value.
