Description
The lych gate at Emmanuel Church is a Grade II listed structure made of Ancaster and Bulwell stone, with oak timber under a clay tile roof. It is located at the western entrance of the churchyard.
This gabled structure features a roof ridge that runs perpendicular to the front. The wooden gates are centrally hung between the stone end walls and are adorned with crenellated posts and metal fittings. The end walls are constructed from rusticated Bulwell stone, with dressed Ancaster stone quoins and two tiers of chamfered coping made from Ancaster stone. The oak timber framing includes chamfered wooden bases, moulded posts, and double arch braces. King posts extend above the collar beam, supporting purlins with moulded ends. The roof is finished with handmade clay tiles, complemented by decorative ridge tiles.
