Description
The cooling pond at Papplewick Pumping Station, built in 1884 by M. O. Tarbotton for the Nottingham Corporation Water Department, is a Grade II listed structure. It features coursed and squared rubble and ashlar. The pond is lobed and rectangular, with cove and bolection moulded coping, and includes a circular cast iron central basin. This structure is a detached ancillary building of the Papplewick Pumping Station, which was one of three built in the late 19th century to serve Nottingham City. It is currently a working museum managed by the Papplewick Pumping Station Trust.
