Description
South Carr Lodge is a lodge built around 1860, constructed from ashlar stone with slightly projecting quoins. It features a decorative tiled roof with four pairs of Tudor style ashlar chimney stacks and decorative bargeboards, each adorned with a single finial and pendant. The building is set on a plinth and consists of two storeys and three bays.
The central bay projects on the first floor and is supported by cast iron columns of an arcaded porch, which has a single segmental central arch flanked by single pointed arches. Above the porch is a cast iron modillion cornice. The central doorway has a panelled door with a chamfered stone surround, flanked by projecting windows that each feature tripartite stone transoms and mullion glazing bar casements.
On the first floor, there are three similar, smaller casements, with the central one having a Tudor style hood mould. The outer two windows break into the eaves and are gabled, each with bargeboards, finials, and pendants. Both gables have a single similar bay and a single similar casement above. The rear of the lodge mirrors the front, although the door is double and part glazed with glazing bars. All windows have stone surrounds, and those on the first floor feature decorative voussoirs.
