Description
The Theatre, originally a house, was built in the late 18th century and later modified in the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick and ashlar, featuring a hipped slate roof with a single gable brick stack and dentillated eaves. The building is one and a half storeys high and consists of three bays, set on a plinth with a first-floor band. The central bay, which has a rusticated ground floor, slightly projects and is topped by an open pediment with a dentillated cornice. It contains a central glazing bar sash window. To the right, there is a tripartite glazing bar sash window, originally in a smaller opening, which includes a central arched light flanked by marginal lights, all under a flat head.
On the left side, there is a single-storey 20th-century brick and pantile extension, featuring a gable end with a single sash window under a segmental arch. The central first-floor Diocletian window, which has ashlar mullions and is set in a relieving arch, is flanked by single glazing bar lights. To the left of this is another single-storey brick and pantile extension, which includes a single sash window and a doorway with a wooden door and a projecting wooden hood. At the rear, there is a later lean-to brick extension.
