Description
Wardens Cottage is a 17th-century cottage built in 1692. It is constructed of brick and features a steep-pitched pantile roof supported by original timbers. The building has ashlar quoins and dressings, a moulded lintel band, a single stone-coped gable with kneelers, and a single gable stack.
The cottage is two storeys high and has two bays. The east front includes an off-centre chamfered doorway with an ashlar lintel and keystone. To the left of the doorway is a three-light mullioned window with a splayed reveal and mullions, while to the right is a small blocked opening with a chamfered and rebated reveal. Above the door, there is a fielded datestone featuring a fleur-de-lys motif, inscribed with 'W P 1692'. Above this, to the left, is a 19th-century two-light Yorkshire sash window, and to the right is a single casement window with a chamfered and rebated reveal.
