Description
White Cottage is a house that dates from the 17th century, with an outbuilding from the 18th century that has been converted into a house in the 20th century. The building is constructed of brick, pebbledashed, and colourwashed. It features a steeply pitched pantile roof with a plain tiled verge and a single off-centre ridge stack. The house is one and a half storeys tall and has three bays.
The main north front has three 20th-century glazing bar casements. Above these, to the left, is a two-light casement, and further up is a single flat-roofed dormer with a three-light casement. The former outbuilding to the left has a lower pitched pantile roof. On this side, there is a single 20th-century casement, flanked on the right by a garage door, and to the right again, a 20th-century reeded timber doorcase with a cornice that contains a 20th-century half-glazed door. Beyond this to the right is a 20th-century fixed light. Above, to the right, is a single casement, and above again are two flat-roofed dormers, each with a two-light glazing bar casement.
The west gable has, to the right, a two-light glazing bar casement, and above, to the left, is another similar casement. At the rear, there is a large 20th-century glazed timber extension. The building is included for its group value only.
