Description
The Harworth War Memorial, designed by Tyas and Guest, was unveiled in 1926. It is made of pale Cornish granite and features a low obelisk with the years 1914-18 inscribed on it, along with a carved laurel wreath that is painted green near the base. The obelisk is mounted on a plinth that bears the inscription "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY’S FREEDOM" followed by the names of the fallen, and the years 1939-45 with additional names. This plinth sits on a square base.
The memorial is enclosed by low stone walls, which define its setting.
