Description
No. 21 Front Street is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of stucco with ashlar sills and features a hipped slate roof with two ridge stacks. The front is three bays wide and two storeys high, with a central six-panelled door that has a plain fanlight and panelled reveals. Two Tuscan columns support a hood with an open pediment and a panelled archivolt. On either side of the door are tall glazing bar sashes. The first floor contains three glazing bar sashes. Inside, the house retains its shutters and boasts a fine moulded fireplace with swags in the right-hand room. The dog leg stair features square fluted balusters, circular newels, carved strings, and a wreathed handrail. There is an elliptical arch leading to the stair hall, and the ceiling above the stair has moulded plasterwork in the shape of a circle with a central star motif.
