Description
The gravestone and railings at Riseholme Church date from 1853 and are possibly the work of S. S. Teulon. They commemorate John Kaye, Bishop of Lincoln. The gravestone is made of ashlar and is designed in the shape of a cross with a gabled top. It features a cusped cross at the head end, quatrefoils on the arms, and a roundel at the foot that contains the Bishop's arms, flanked by the letters J.K. The stone is set on a re-used base and is topped with delicate brass railings that have twisted stems and trident knops. The Bishop was the founder of Riseholme Church and resided at the nearby Riseholme Hall.
