Description
Kingerby Manor is a small country house built in 1812, with some alterations and additions made in the 20th century. The exterior features stucco and ashlar, with a flat roof that is not visible. The house is three stories tall, standing on a stone plinth, and has two bands on the first floor, with the upper band at the cill level, and a second floor band also at cill level. It has a plain coped parapet.
The garden front has five bays, with the central three bays slightly advanced. The entrance features a central six-panelled door with a traceried fanlight, which is sheltered by an open porch supported by Doric columns and pilasters that hold up a plain entablature. On either side of the door are pairs of glazing bar sash windows. Above the door, there is a glazing bar sash window with a moulded surround and cornice. Above this window is a stone tablet displaying a coat of arms and the motto "Toujour Jeune". The first floor has additional glazing bar sash windows on either side, while the second floor features an open colonnade of paired ashlar Doric columns across the middle three bays, supporting a plain parapet above. This balcony, which has a wrought iron balustrade of overlapping circles, likely dates from the 20th century following a fire on the top floor. Flanking the colonnade are smaller glazing bar sash windows.
The banding continues around the sides of the house, which also have some glazing bar sash windows and blank openings. At the rear, there are 20th-century single-storey extensions, and the rear front includes a Venetian window at the first floor and an elliptical opening light at the second floor, both of which illuminate the stairway.
Inside, the staircase rises through three stories and features swept flights with plain balustrades. The area between the stairway and the hall is defined by an elliptical arch. The ceilings have simple cornices, and the windows are fitted with full shutters. The moulded architraves have a Greek form at the corners, and all doors are six-panelled and contemporary with the house.
