Description
Boundary Farmhouse is a house built in 1773, with 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and has a black glazed pantile roof, featuring two brick gable stacks and brick coped and tumbled gables. The front has five bays and three storeys, with first and second floor bands and a dentillated eaves course. The house has parallel ranges.
The central entrance is a 19th-century glazed panelled door with a traceried fanlight and a semicircular arch, flanked by pilasters that support a narrow flat head. On either side of the door are single 19th-century canted bay windows with bordered glazing bar sashes, plain friezes, and moulded cornices. The first floor features five glazing bar sash windows, while the second floor has five smaller similar windows. All upper windows have splayed lintels with raised keyblocks.
To the left of the front, there is a single-storey 19th-century billiard room extension that includes a two-light glazing bar sash canted bay window. The date of 1773 is recorded in the iron ties on the left gable, which also has tumbled gables. This house was built as part of a model farm complex by the first Earl of Yarborough.
