Description
The Methodist Chapel, built in 1892, is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof with raised stone coped gables, adorned with crockets at the base and Gothic finials. The building has a nave and chancel plan, along with two side rooms and a porch. The street-facing elevation includes two decorative ashlar bands and a gable that features a panel with a recessed cinquefoil, a plinth, and angle buttresses. The central window is a three-light design in a pointed arch, with cusped trefoil heads, a central transom, and a cinquefoil at the top. The porch, located to the right, has a stone coped gable with kneelers and a pointed arched entrance. Inside, the nave boasts a fine terrazzo floor with decorative borders and mosaic lozenges. The roof over the nave consists of four bays with curved braces and king posts, while the curved arched braces rest on corbels with pierced decoration in the spandrels. The two side rooms feature 19th-century iron fireplaces with moulded surrounds.
