Description

Lodge gate piers and screen, dating from the late 18th century, are constructed of ashlar and cast iron. The gateway is flanked by square, squat, panelled ashlar classical piers designed to resemble pagan altars, featuring cornices and low pyramidal tops. On either side, there are low stone plinths that lead to two additional piers at the ends. The left side has eight bays of plain square-sectioned railings with knopped tops, while the right side has six bays of similar railings.
