Description
The garden wall and gateway at The Vicarage, dating from the early 19th century, is constructed of yellow brick. The gateway is flanked by single square brick pillars that feature moulded cornices and pyramidal copings. The wall curves into the gate on both sides. To the left, there are four bays of wall separated by rusticated piers, with an additional separate bay beyond the cottage. On the right, five irregular bays rise away from the gate. The end bay contains a 19th-century planked door set within a pointed archway. The lower sections of the wall are plain beneath a roll moulding, with zones of pierced and blank crosses above. Above this is a double roll moulding topped with clay saddleback copings. This structure is included for its group value only.
