Description
The Pigeon Cote at The Old Rectory is a 17th-century structure built from coursed ironstone rubble with limestone ashlar dressings. It features a hipped roof covered with pantiles and has a rectangular plan. The building is single storey and includes a stone band at a high level that runs around the entire structure. There is a doorway located centrally on the east end, which has a reused flat lintel and a plain stone surround. Above this band, and over the door, is a small rectangular flight hole set within a larger rectangular recess. Inside, there are rows of nest boxes built into the walls, with perches made from projecting limestone rubble blocks.
