Description
21 and 23 Watergate is an 18th-century building that stands two stories high with attics. It is constructed of stone and features a band between the storeys, a pantile roof, and a moulded cornice below the parapet. The façade includes five windows with flushed frames and glazing bars, along with two dormers that have wooden cornices and pediments. There is a square-headed plain doorway with an old frame leading to a passage on the left, while the rest of the ground floor has a modern shop front. Inside, there is a panelled room from the 18th century on the first floor and a very good middle 18th-century staircase. At the back, there is a red brick wing, which is said to have been built to accommodate the Prince Regent, although it lacks notable architectural merit.
