Description
The Post Office and attached house, located on Frieston Road in Hough-on-the-Hill, is a building dating from the 17th century and late 18th century. It is constructed from coursed ironstone rubble and red brick, topped with a pantile roof that features a single ridge stack and a single gable stack. The building has a 17th-century ironstone rubble plinth, a first-floor brick band, and decorated eaves.
The structure is two stories high, with a two-bay shop section and a three-bay house to the northeast. The shop has a doorway on the northeast side, which features a plain late 18th-century doorcase and a partially glazed door. It also includes a late 18th-century bowed shop window with glazing bars. Above the shop, there is a single partially fixed glazing bar sash window.
The house has a central doorway with a late 18th-century plain doorcase, cornice, and a panelled door. This doorway is flanked by single windows, with three additional windows above, all of which are fitted with partially fixed glazing bar sashes.
