Description

This is a row of four shops and houses dating to the first half of the 19th century. The building is constructed of brick with slate roofs, featuring continuous bands at the sill levels of the upper windows and a moulded wood cornice at the eaves, punctuated by small brackets at regular intervals. There are eight windows across the front, each with painted stone rusticated arches, flush frames, and glazing bars. Each house has a six-panelled door, topped with a rectangular fanlight enclosed within an arch. The original shop fronts retain wood architraves with plain friezes and moulded cornices. The windows were originally divided into three arched lights. Numbers 31 to 40 form a group.
