Description

The war memorial, located on the north side of Station Road in Morton, was constructed around 1918 by Reginald Blomfield. It is made of limestone ashlar and features three octagonal steps inscribed with the words: "R.I.P. To the Glory of God and in Memory of the sons of the parish who fell in the Great War. 1914-1918. Their names are recorded in the Church." The memorial has an octagonal plinth with a moulded base and an octagonal shaft adorned with acanthus leaf decoration at the base. It includes a moulded cap and a frieze decorated with quatrefoils and battlements. On the east side, there is a gabled crucifixion with a military saint.
