Description
King's School, known as the 'Old School' fronting Church Street, is a Grade I listed building dating from 1497. It features a stone construction with a stone slate roof and consists of a large single schoolroom built in six bays, topped by an open timber roof. The original windows are located in the side walls, and there are four-light windows in the west gabled wall, which is adorned with a pelican. The east wall has a doorway with an inner four-centred head and a square outer head. Later buildings on the site were designed by John Bilson in 1904.
