Description
The School House, which served as the Headmaster's residence, is a Grade I listed building dating from the early 16th century. It forms the north range of a courtyard, with the 'Old School' making up the south range. This two-storey structure features attics and is constructed of stone rubble with ashlar dressings, topped with a pantile roof. The building retains many original windows, including a notable two-storeyed bay window with five lights on the south front. The end walls are gabled, and several rooms still have their original fireplaces. Additionally, there is a medieval garde-robe located in the upper room, which was once used as a boys' dormitory. A photograph of the building is held in the National Monuments Record.
