Description
Nos 8 to 10 on St Martin's, dating from 1671, are an early 18th-century building that has been divided into three sections. The structure is two storeys high with attics, constructed in ashlar stone. It features three hipped dormers set in a stone slate roof, which has a heavy moulded eaves cornice supported by modillions. The eaves cornice is interrupted by a bracket for the sign of the George Hotel, located opposite. There are five windows with plain stone surrounds and glazing bars. No 8 includes a 28-paned bow window supported by small brackets and a plain four-panel door beneath a three-paned rectangular fanlight. No 9 has a mid-19th century shop front, while No 10 features a slightly bowed shop window without glazing bars. Nos 4 to 12 on St Martin's form a group with these buildings.
