Description

The Anchor Hotel is an early 19th-century building. It is constructed of coursed rubble with stone bands at sill levels and stone quoins. Originally, it comprised three storeys and three windows, with a two-storey, two-window extension on the north side. The windows have plain reveals, straight stone arches with keystones, and glazing bars. One window is blocked on the second and third floors. A plain 19th-century door is set under a similar arch. The extension has a mansard roof, curved to the eaves, and features one dormer. Slates cover the roof. The building forms a group with the nearby bridge and other buildings on St Martin’s.
