Description
The Waggon and Horses is a public house built in 1831. It features coursed and banded limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, topped by a slate roof and two red brick gable stacks. The building is two stories high with a three-bay front. The central entrance consists of a four flush panel door with an overlight, flanked by single glazing bar sash windows. On the first floor, there is a central blank opening with single similar windows on either side. All openings are topped with ashlar lintels that include keystones. Between the two upper windows on the right side, there is a square ashlar plaque that displays the date 1831, the initials JJM, and the inscription "friendship and unity," along with decorative elements such as pipes, a flagon, hearts, and clasping hands, all beneath a cornice. To the right of the main building, there is a single-storey service block with a pantile roof, which contains a single glazing bar casement window beneath a continuous wooden lintel.
