Description
The York County Savings Bank, built in 1841 and designed by Salvin, is a Grade II listed building located on Finkin Street. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features two storeys with two dormers set in a parapet. The ground floor includes a large 6-light transom and mullion window, along with two round-arched doors that have mask keystones. On the first floor, four Ionic half columns flank four windows and a central niche adorned with a shell keystone. The building is topped with a moulded cornice and a parapet that has mock balusters crowned by ball finials. There is also a decorative band between the ground and first floors, as well as a plinth. The design reflects an ornate Victorian Jacobean style.
