Description
The Pinchbeck Engine Draining Pump is a draining pump built in 1833, with a 20th-century addition. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings, featuring cast iron elements and a hipped slate roof with lead dressings and overhanging eaves. The building has two storeys and a two-bay front. An ashlar band connects the heads of the doors, and both main bays are recessed with segmental heads. Each bay contains double cast iron doors with six panels, topped by segmental brick heads. Above these doors are semi-circular headed cast iron glazing bar lights. In the center of the front is a datestone with "1833" in raised letters, and beneath it is a fine insurance plaque. To the right, there is a pent roofed bay with a segmental headed doorway that houses the wooden paddle wheel. To the left, there is a later yellow brick extension with a sliding garage door. The site is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument No. 248.
