Description

The farmhouse at Broadgate House Farm dates to the early 18th century, with a significant refronting around 1800 and further alterations in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick, with some areas colourwashed render, and has a slate roof with stone coped gables and two gable stacks, the one to the left projecting and with a flat band. The main, three-bay facade is two-and-a-half storeys high and features a chamfered plinth. The central doorway is sheltered by an open porch with a semi-circular hood supported on slender columns, above which is an ornate doorcase with pilasters, imposts, a traceried fanlight, a panelled reveal, and a door. The doorway is flanked by small, canted bay windows with tripartite sash windows and moulded entablatures. Above the doorway is a semi-circular headed sash window flanked by single tripartite sash windows with flush wedge lintels, painted ashlar keystones. Two segmental headed dormers contain plain sash windows. A long, low, single-storey range with an attic, dating to the early 18th century, extends to the rear.
