Description

Waddington House is a farmhouse dating to 1717. It is constructed from coursed rubble with ashlar quoins, and has a pantile roof with a wooden bracketed eaves cornice and stone coped gables. The house features twin 18th-century ashlar stacks on the west gable, and two white 19th-century stacks to the east. It is five bays wide, with two storeys, and a double-fronted design, plus an 19th-century extension to the east. There are nine 19th-century sash windows, set within raised moulded surrounds. The front door is off-centre and has a magnificent 19th-century doorcase consisting of coupled brackets supporting an entablature. The door itself is panelled with two octagonal fielded panels and a coloured glass fanlight. The west gable displays a carved stone bearing the date 1717 and the initials G.T.A. The 19th-century extension to the east has a single sash window above with a moulded surround and glass door, and a three-light sliding casement below. Further 19th-century extensions are located at the rear.
