Description
The stable block to Harmston Hall Hospital, originally built as a stable block, dates from the late 19th century and is designed in a Free Style. It features a quadrangular plan with bold archway entrances in the north and south ranges. The building is constructed of ashlar and has a striking wooden cornice that runs almost continuously beneath the slate ridge roof. The facades are very irregular, showcasing a wide variety of windows, predominantly wooden casements, along with balconies and bay windows. In the center of the west range, there is a pigeoncote topped with a leaded canopy roof. Additionally, at the south-east corner, there is a water tower with rusticated rounded corners. Some 20th-century alterations and additions have been made to the structure.
