Description
The Church of St Oswald is a parish church built in 1852. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and features slate roofs adorned with decorative ridge tiles. The church has an ashlar chamfered plinth and angle buttresses with ashlar set-offs. The nave consists of five bays, while the chancel has two bays. The west wall of the nave showcases three tall chamfered lancets set within a pointed arch chamfered surround, topped by a small gabled bellcote on the ashlar coped gable. The north wall of the nave contains two tall chamfered lancets in each bay, and the chancel features a single small chamfered lancet in each bay. The east wall displays three chamfered lancets, with the central one being taller. The south wall of the nave has a projecting gabled porch, which includes an ashlar coped gable with kneelers. The double chamfered archway is accentuated by an ashlar hoodmould with label stops. Inside, there is a chamfered and pointed chancel arch, along with 19th-century wooden pews, a pulpit, choir stalls, a reredos, and an altar. Additionally, there is an ashlar octagonal bowl and stem font.
