Description
Woldale Lodge is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the late 18th century with some 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of colourwashed brick and features a pantile roof with a large shaped stone coped gable that has a central urn and flanking ball finials. The building is two storeys high with a three-bay front. This front is articulated by a giant order, blind archway that consists of a taller, broader central arch flanked by single arches. A flat band runs across the first floor, acting as imposts between the archways.
The central doorway has a glazing bar door and is flanked by single two-light sliding sashes. Above the doorway, there is a single glazing bar sash, also flanked by two-light sliding sashes. All openings have segmental heads. At the top of the central archway, there is a small oculus surrounded by iron ties that inscribes the date "1829." However, an old photograph suggests this date may be incorrect, as it appears to show "1..8," indicating that the building likely dates from the late 18th century. There is also a 20th-century lean-to on the right side of the building.
