Description
Louth Railway Station, built in 1854, is a Victorian Tudor style building located on the east side of Ramsgate. The main block is a single storey structure made of red brick with stone dressings. It features a parapet adorned with ball finials on pilasters and a string course. The roof is covered with Welsh slate, and there are tall cylindrical chimney stacks that are either paired or grouped.
At the center, there is a stack above a moulded gable that includes a round window set in a carved surround. The building has two round-arched windows, with the center window being flat and featuring wooden mullions. A carved stone porch with three bays is present, topped with a carved parapet that also has four ball finials. The side windows consist of four-light mullions and transoms, all framed in stone. To the left, there is a door set in a round-arched surround with block rustication.
The end pavilions of the station project forward and are two storeys high, featuring moulded gables and stone pilasters at the quoins, each topped with ball finials. One pavilion has a four-light window above a six-light window, and the building stands on a stone-capped plinth.
