Description

The Old Rectory is a former rectory, now a house, built in 1846 by Joseph Chapman of Binbrook, with minor alterations in the late 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with moulded brick dressings, featuring a fish scale slate roof with reused tile coped gables, brick kneelers, and finials. The building comprises two parallel ranges and is two storeys high with a garret. The three-bay front has a plinth, moulded string and eaves courses, with the central bay slightly advanced and gabled. The central entrance features a Tudor arched, panelled and glazed door with fixed lights, sheltered by a brick porch with an outer Tudor doorway. To the left of the entrance is a French door with glazing bars, and to the right a three-light casement window with wooden mullions. On the first floor, a central rectangular oriel with a hipped roof has a two-light casement with glazing bars, flanked by single two-light casement windows with wooden mullions. All windows are topped with moulded brick hoods. A small fixed light sits above the oriel.
