Description

Hall Farmhouse is a house dating from the 16th century, altered around 1680, with further changes made in the late 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of red brick and features a blue pantile roof with two brick ridge stacks. The building has an H-plan layout and is two stories high with a three-bay front, including garrets in the wings, a plinth, and an eaves band.

The central entrance consists of a half-glazed panelled door, which is sheltered by a 20th-century rustic wooden porch, and is flanked by single glazing bar sash windows. On the first floor, there are three similar windows, and the wings also have garret lights. All windows feature brick segmental heads, except for the one above the door, which has a timber lintel. The sides of the building are adorned with dentillated eaves.

Inside, the center of the house likely contains the original 16th-century hall, which retains two matching heavily moulded beams. A late 17th-century dog leg stair has been added, featuring large turned balusters and rectangular newels with knops. Other beams in the house are chamfered with shield stops. There is also a fine early 18th-century wooden fire surround with a mantle and panel above. The roof is of clasped purlin construction but was largely reconstructed in the 19th century.
