Description
The Hall is a house located on Main Road in St. Helens, dating from the late 17th century, with alterations from the early 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of red brick and features a slate roof with stone coped gables, stone kneelers, and ball finials. The building has a T-plan and is two stories high with garrets, presenting a six-bay front that includes a plinth, first floor bands, and a plain eaves course.
The entrance is an off-centre half glazed panelled door, flanked by fixed glazing bar lights. To the right of the door is a single glazing bar sash window, while to the left are two glazing bar sashes. Between the left pair of windows is a painted chimney window. The first floor contains six similar windows, including a dummy window above the lower one. To the right, there is a single storey hipped bay. At the rear, there is a lower two-storey 18th-century wing that also has a stone coped gable and finial. Between the main house and this wing is a 19th-century square brick porch with an embattled parapet.
