Description
Tathwell Lodge is a house built around 1870, constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings. It features a hipped slate roof with overhanging eaves supported by small brick brackets, ornate wrought iron ridges, and several tall brick stacks, including a projecting stack on the south return with tumbling. The building is two storeys high with a three-bay front, which has a dentillated band and a raised brick lintel on the first floor. To the left, there is a semi-circular two-storey bay with a conical roof, topped by a decorative wooden frieze and a further semi-circular hipped roof. The front has three plain sash windows, with a single plain sash window to the right. The wall beyond the right side is angled towards the projecting stack and contains a narrower plain sash window. Above, there are five plain sash windows, with the rightmost window being narrower. All windows have ashlar lintels with brackets, brick hood moulds with label stops, and sloping panels below the sashes, which are complemented by ashlar blocks beneath them that echo the lintels. There is a doorway located in the south return.
